Day 8

7/14/18
Today was the day that we finally got to go home. But not really. We left our
Campground from the Deschutes National Forest campground around 7:30 a.m. and eventually
stopped in Tri-Cities to do laundry. We were so close to home yet so far. I tried not to think
about my bed, or my fridge, or my dogs that were less than an hour away.
While we waited for our clothes to wash we went to the Dollar Tree, where we had like
20 minutes left till our clothes would be finished washing, so I felt pretty pressured to find
something quick. With the little time I had left, I found a laser pointer to mess with Omar,
Pablo, and Junior. I also bought myself a bag of peach rings because I had only eaten two
burgers and a couple granola bars earlier. I don’t know how long we stayed at the laundry mat,
but I think it was around two hours, which I probably should have used to walk towards
Mcdonald’s, which according to Siri, was an eight minute walk away. That is probably one of my
biggest regrets in life now that I look back on it. I could’ve bought myself 7 McChickens, but I
was foolish. And lazy.
So when we got to the Spokane Reservation, it was around 9:00 p.m., about 6 hours
before my usual bedtime. So the guys and I decided to go shower so I finished filling my air
mattress and got my backpack with the clothes I had already prepared to change into. We then
walked like 5 minutes to the restroom to check out the restroom showers, and I set down my
backpack. But when I finished using the restroom my backpack was no longer there. So I
checked around the restroom, looking for my backpack. I even walked halfway back to camp, trying to retrace my steps like 4 times, and I don’t like walking. Eventually, the guys had already finished showering, so I walked back to camp with them. But it turned out Pablo couldn’t find his backpack, which he had left in the van, so the puzzle was solved, as it turned out that I had taken Pablo’s identical backpack and left it in the restroom, which explained why I couldn’t find my backpack because I had brought the wrong one. This also meant that we had to walk back to get Pablo’s backpack. But by that time, I had given up and decided to shower in the morning.
